President, AME Bangladesh
Association for Medical Education (AME), Bangladesh is a body of medical educationists which encompasses teachers of different undergraduate and post-graduate medical, dental, nursing, medical technology and allied health science institutes of Bangladesh. The association started journey in 1997 as a non-government, non-profitable, non-political, academic organization concerning with education and training of health professionals in Bangladesh. Since inception, the organization is holding national and international conferences, seminars, including scholarly meeting for the development of leaders in health professionals’ education in Bangladesh and South East Asia Region. This organization is one of the regional organizations affiliated with South East Asia Regional Association for Medical Education (SEARAME) which is the regional organization of the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME). Since SEARAME is the official partner of the World Health Organization (WHO), AME Bangladesh is working closely with WHO country office & Regional Office for South-East Asia Region. (WHO/SEARO) to improve the standards of health professionals’ education in this country & in the South East Region. Under the umbrella of AME Bangladesh, various group works focusing quality improvement of medical education in Bangladesh Aim and objectives of BMEAC are to achieve through trained members of this organization working at the medical education units of those institutes. They run continued professional activities as faculty development for the teachers of the institutions. AME Bangladesh is regularly publishing BM&DC recognized ‘Bangladesh Journal of Medical Education (BJME)’ since 2010. It is published both online and print version and published half yearly in January & July. The journal promotes health professionals’ education and research. In the present era of quality education through accreditation by empowering faculty through faculty development programs, AME Bangladesh and it’s members are playing the viral role at different organizations in Bangladesh and South East Asia Region. It is a great honor and indeed a great pleasure for me as president of AME Bangladesh to have the opportunity to work with this professional academic’s organization for the better future of medical education by ensuring quality. Let us move forward as united in purpose, inspired by knowledge creativity & innovation and commitment to serve our nation to produce knowledge skilled, competent, compassionate, attitudinally prepared and reflective health workforce in Bangladesh.
